About
My mission: Art should be accessible and affordable! My products allow people to add personal touches to their space, treat themselves, and give gifts while accommodating all budgets and spaces.
From the moment I could hold a crayon, I've been an artist. Growing up, I was known by teachers and classmates alike as the girl who was a good artist with limitless creativity for color. As a young girl my parents found me a wonderful art teacher that I worked with twice a week on my skills-- these lessons and skills influence my art and creative process to this day. Thank you, Mrs. McDonald!
I graduated from high school in 2014 with the intention of pursuing Occupational Therapy as my career. I subsequently began my undergraduate studies at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford and received my Bachelor of Science degree in 2018. One day during my studies in 2016, I had an idea for a painting, painted it, and posted it to Facebook. Within a few hours I had 3 offers from people wanting to buy it. That spark ignited an artistic fire within me and from that moment on I decided to start Lia de Lyon Art and dedicate my time to creating beautiful art and improving my skill in order to share my ideas and visions with the world.
In 2021, I am currently enrolled in the Doctor of Occupational Therapy, OTD program at the University of Pittsburgh and plan to graduate in the spring of 2022. I am happily (though at times stressfully) balancing my small art business and love for art with my love for working with patients and classmates in the world of Occupational Therapy. My mission in life is to bring beautiful art to people that evokes happiness and joy, while helping my patients to be as independent as possible with Occupational Therapy.
Some of my accomplishments as an artist include: Willow Smith sharing my portrait of her on Instagram; creating multiple album covers for musicians, one of whom was on the Voice; some of my painting videos have gone viral on TikTok. I am always looking to reach new milestones and accomplishments with my art.
About me as a person: I am a very friendly and outgoing person. I love spending time with friends and meeting new people. I am passionate about advocacy, especially for healthcare and access to it, voting, Black Lives Matter, the LGBTQIA+ community, environmental issues, and reproductive rights. I love supporting local communities and small businesses, shopping small, and eco-friendly businesses. In my spare time I enjoy gardening, photography, spending time with family, spending time in the outdoors, trying new restaurants, visiting art museums, and of course, creating art.
Thank you for stopping by and visiting my website as well as supporting my art and getting to know me a little!
